Toll House Cookies
Ingredients
- ½ lb butter (2 sticks)
- ¾ C sugar
- 2¼ C flour
- ¾ C light brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 package)
- 12 oz nuts (OPTIONAL)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream butter and sugars. If you want a chewier cookie, melt the butter in the microwave. Otherwise, bring the butter to room temperature and mix it until it is soft enough to add sugars.
- After you have combined the butter and sugars, add the eggs one at a time, and the vanilla.
- Sift the dry ingredients together and add slowly to the batter.
- When fully incorporated, add the chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Pecans and walnuts are both good choices.
- Place cookies by tablespoonful about 1" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350° for about 7 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack.
