Steak Tartare
Ingredients
- 300g high-quality beef fillet, freshly minced or finely chopped
- 1 small shallot, finely diced
- 2 tbs of capers, rinsed and chopped
- 2 tbs of fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tbs of Dijon mustard
- 1 tbs of olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 raw egg yolk (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Toast or crackers, for serving
- Cornichons for serving
Directions
- Start Fresh: Use very fresh, well-chilled beef. It's crucial for steak tartare
- Mix: In a bowl, combine minced beef, shallots, capers, parsley, mustard, oil, and Worcestershire sauce until evenly mixed.
- Season: Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Plate: Shape into patties or mounds. Make a small well in the center and add an egg yolk, if using.
- Serve: Serve immediately with toast or crackers on the side. Cornichons or pickles make a great crunchy, tangy side.
