Orange Chicken
Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 lbs chicken thighs, cubed
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 C cornstarch
- 3 C flour
- 1 egg
- 1½ C water
- 2 tbs oil
Sauce
- 1 tsp oil
- ¼ tsp chili flakes
- ½ tsp ginger
- 1 tbs garlic
- ¼ C sugar
- ¼ C brown sugar
- ¼ C orange juice
- ¼ C vinegar
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 2 tbs cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Directions
- Cube the chicken and set aside.
- Combine salt, pepper, cornstarch, and flour. Add egg and water and mix well, then add the oil and mix well. Add the chicken, mix to coat and chill covered in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the chicken, deep fry until golden brown and set aside on a wire rack
- Heat the chili flakes in oil and add ginger, garlic, and the sugars. Add orange juice, vinegar, and soy sauce and thicken with cornstarch mixed in water. Add the chicken and coat with the sauce, finish with sesame oil and serve.
