Korean Spicy Pork (Jaeyuk Bokkeum)
Ingredients
- 450 g pork shoulder, cut into big bite size pieces
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 stalks scallion, chopped (white part for sauce, green part for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil
Sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbs gochujang
- 1 tbs soy sauce
- 1 tbs fish sauce
- 2 tbs rice wine
- 1 tbs brown sugar
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbs sesame oil
- 1 tbs gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 tbs white part green onion
Directions
- In a bowl, combine all sauce ingredients and mix well.
- Heat the pan over medium to medium-high and add 1 tsp of oil
- Add the meat and cook until golden brown. Remove the meat to a colander to drain.
- Add sliced onion to the pan and fry until translucent.
- Lower the heat, add the sauce and mix well, and cook for 3 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasonings, garnish with reserved green onions, and serve with steamed rice
