Flan Almendra
Ingredients
- ½ C sugar
- 400 ml sweetened condensed milk
- 3 eggs
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 C slivered almonds
- strawberry halves (Optional)
Directions
- Sprinkle sugar in a 9" round cake pan and place over medium heat.
- Using oven mitts, carmelize sugar by shaking pan occasionally until the sugar melts and turns a light golden brown. Allow to cool. Note that mixture may crack as it cools.
- Combine next 6 ingredients in an electric blender and process at high speed for 15 seconds.
- Pour the mixture over carmelized sugar, cover the pan with aluminum foil, and place in a large shallow pan.
- Pour hot water to a depth of 1" into the larger pan. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove pan from water and uncover. Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.
- Loosen the edges with a spatula and invert the flan onto a plate. Arrange the strawberries around the sides and serve. Makes six servings.
