Country-Style Biscuits

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together and cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Make a well in the center, add the milk all at once, and stir just until dough clings together.
  3. Knead gently on a lightly floured surface for 10-12 strokes.
  4. Roll or pat to ½" thickness and cut with a 2½" biscuit cutter, dipping the cutter into flour before each cut.
  5. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
