Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°, and butter a 12" cast iron skillet, an 8" square cake pan, or a 9x13" cake pan. The 9x13 pan makes the pieces a little thinner, which increases the surface area for butter
  2. Mix the milk, egg and fat, then sift in the dry ingredients
  3. Pour/spoon into the pan and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean
