Chopped Cheese Salad
Ingredients
- 8-oz ground beef patty
- Lettuce, chopped
- Tomatoes, chopped
- Pickled Jalapeno, chopped
- Sour cream
- Shredded cheese (any type)
- Onion, diced
- Avocado, diced
- Bell pepper, sliced (Optional)
- Taco seasoning
- Tortilla chips
Directions
- Put the patty on the grill and chop while it is cooking. Add onions, jalapeno chips, cheese and taco seasoning and mix until the beef is cooked, the onions are translucent and the cheese is melted and fully incorporated
- Line salad plate with 1-2 large lettuce leaves, then fill the middle with shredded lettuce to act as bed
- Add the seasoned beef and cheese mixture to the lettuce bed
- Top with sour cream, jalapenos, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, and tortilla chips. Sprinkle with a little taco seasoning as a garnish
Chef's Notes
- This is a recipe I created for my family's burger restaurant chain in Texas. It was originally intended to be served in a sourdough bread bowl, but the family also wanted a healthier option, with the lettuce leaves replacing the bread bowl as a container
- Fresh pico de gallo is an excellent addition, if you have it
