Candied Yams (v)
Ingredients
- 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced thick
- 1 C sugar
- Dash salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon or nutmeg
- ¾ stick butter (6 oz), cut into small cubes
- 2 slices lemon
- 1 tbs flour
- ¼ C water
Directions
- Place sweet potatoes in a 9x13" baking dish, cover with salt and sugar and sprinkle over top with cinnamon.
- Cover with cubes of butter, squeeze the lemon over top and place the rind in with the potatoes.
- Sift flour evenly over the mixture and add water
- Bake at 400° for one hour, basting frequently.
