Calas
Ingredients
- 6 tbs flour
- 3 tbs sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 C cooked rice
- 2 eggs
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp vanilla
- pinch nutmeg
- Cooking oil for deep frying powdered sugar
Directions
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and vanilla.
- Thoroughly mix the rice and eggs together in a separate bowl.
- Add the dry ingredients to the rice and egg mixture and mix well.
- Drop by spoonfuls into 350° cooking oil, fry until brown, and drain on a wire rack.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve hot.
Chef's Notes
- These are also very good with honey or cane syrup instead of powdered sugar.
