Apple Crisp
Ingredients
- 6 cups chopped apples (about 6 medium apples)
- ¼ C fresh lemon juice
- ¾ C granulated sugar
- 1 tbs ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- ¾ C butter, melted
- ¾ C packed brown sugar
- 1½ C flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 C pecan pieces, optional
Directions
- Heat oven to 3507degF.
- Place chopped apples in a large bowl and toss with lemon juice to thoroughly coat.
- Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg over apples, mixing well to evenly distribute. Transfer mixture to a buttered 9x12" casserole dish.
- In a bowl, mix butter, sugar, flour and vanilla extract with a fork till combined.
- Spoon atop apple mixture in casserole dish and bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until top is browned and edges are bubbling.
- If adding pecans, sprinkle pecan pieces on top after 35 minutes of baking, then bake for another 15 to 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving with whipped cream or ice cream.
