Apple Crisp

  1. Heat oven to 3507degF.
  2. Place chopped apples in a large bowl and toss with lemon juice to thoroughly coat.
  3. Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg over apples, mixing well to evenly distribute. Transfer mixture to a buttered 9x12" casserole dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix butter, sugar, flour and vanilla extract with a fork till combined.
  5. Spoon atop apple mixture in casserole dish and bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until top is browned and edges are bubbling.
    • If adding pecans, sprinkle pecan pieces on top after 35 minutes of baking, then bake for another 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving with whipped cream or ice cream.
